The Subject and Predicate

The Subject and its Instances:

Subject: A subject in English sentences is the doer of any action. E.g. The dog.

For Instance:

  1. The dog chased its tail.
  2. The dog barked at the mailman.
  3. The dog snuggled up next to me on the couch.

The Predicate and its Instances:

Predicate:

The part of a sentence that states something about the subject, often includes a verb.

For Instannce:

  1. The dog snuggled up next to me on the couch. (verb: snuggled)
  2. The dog is a Labrador Retriever. (verb: is)
  3. The dog has been trained to fetch. (verb: has been trained)
  4. The dog will be going for a walk later. (verb: will be going)
